Home for Sale in North Redondo Beach / Golden Hills
About N. Redondo Beach / Golden Hills, Redondo Beach, CA
Home to L.A. County’s first port, North Redondo Beach Golden Hills is better known today as an affordable beach community than for commercial seafaring.
Entrenched in California surf culture since the early 1900s, the city immortalized in the Beach Boys’ “Surfing U.S.A.” still draws surfers to its shores. Incorporated in 1892, it’s now home to 63,261 residents.
Bounded by Harper Ave and Reynolds Ln to the west, Aviation Ave/ Ford and Harkness Aves to the east, Artesia Blvd. to the north and Anita St to the south, the Golden Hills real estate is considered the premier section of North Redondo. Comprised primarily of “tall and skinny” single family homes, these homes are generally what is able to be built because the lots are primarily 25×100 ft.
The Golden Hills real estate location is perfect to many. You know what you’re getting and it’s always been in high demand. But, what if there is a home that is even yet more amazing. One that moves the master suite from the top floor and makes the top floor larger. And, one with 3 larger bedrooms instead of 4 smaller ones. This home’s space and floor plan is one-of-a-kind. It’s most efficient that the barbecue balcony is adjacent to the kitchen. And, it’s a bonus that there is a larger view balcony off the living room with city views from here to the edge of Los Angeles. Most of these homes are 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths, with “reverse” floorplans of 2 bedrooms, laundry, full bath and garage on the ground floor and living room, dining room, kitchen, half bath and master suite upstairs. This one, however happens to be upgraded and totally different.
Dividing lines, the city’s zigzag border breaks the community into two sections:
- First. The coastline-hugging South Redondo with a remarkably chain-free shopping district and
- Second. A hilly northern stretch that snakes east of Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach to Hawthorne and Lawndale.
Family friendly North Redondo real estate Golden Hills is the least expensive beach city within easy commuting distance to Hollywood and the Westside. By contrast homes for sale on South Redondo’s alphabet avenues is a diverse mix of older cottages, condos and million-dollar-plus homes a fair amount have breathtaking views of the Pacific without the crime found in Venice and Santa Monica.
Schools
Parents in Redondo’s Golden Hills section between Hermosa and Manhattan beaches have been sending their children to Birney and Jefferson Elementary Schools, Adams or Parras Middle Schools and Redondo Union High School. The Southern end is the Jefferson elementary end and is the most desirable. Jefferson Elementary School ranked 10 out of 10 on the state’s 2001 Academic Performance Index and 7 out of 10 compared with similar schools.
